ABOUT OUR CLUB

Welcome to Seaford Head Golf Club.

Our club is one of the most inclusive clubs you can join, we are solely here to serve the members. When you buy an annual ticket from the council you automatically become a member of Seaford Head Golf Club. Each year we collect membership fees from the council, or you can join by paying the annual membership fee directly to the club if you don’t want an annual golf ticket. We then pay for your membership to Golf England and Sussex County Golf Union; this entitles you to have access to the world handicap system (WHS) and gives you a county card which gives you discount to play at clubs throughout Sussex.

The rest of the fees goes toward running the club. We are a club where anyone can be elected to any position. At Seaford Head the positions of Captain or President comes with no financial burden to you. As a club we cover all costs for buffets and prizes on Captains and Presidents events. As a club we run club competitions, enter county competitions, maintain the honours boards and engrave the trophies.

Each year we publish fixtures for men, ladies and seniors, for details of how to enter competitions go to the “how to” section on this website.

The club is run by committee. The committee meet around every 4-6 weeks to discuss any matters raised by members and vote on matters that need decisions. Matters can be raised by asking any committee member or emailing the club Secretary. After each meeting the minutes will be published on this website in the committee section.

Every March we hold an AGM to vote in club officials for the coming year. Some positions are longer term, the president serves for 4 years though may do longer if voted in a 2nd term. The club captain proposes a vice captain who traditionally then serves as captain the following year. In the month before the AGM slips are put on the members boards for anyone to nominate anyone for a vacant club position.

On the night of the AGM we also carry out presentations for the winners of the big competitions of the year just gone.

There is also a handicap committee. They oversee any handicap issues and carry out an annual review of handicaps when the WHS produces reports in November each year. For more information on handicaps go to the “Handicap” tab and look in FAQ’s.

As part of the club’s affiliation to Golf England we have to have various policies in place and they can be found on this website in the Policies section, hard copies are in the pro shop.

The course is run and managed by Seaford Town Council, their onsite lead is Fraser in the pro shop and Simon is the head greenkeeper. You can talk to Fraser if you have an issue with the course and if unresolved communication to the council must come from the club via the club secretary.

The View is run independently of the club and council under a franchise and they set their own rules and conditions of use. This does mean that on occasions the view may be shut to golfers, look out for notices on doors in advance. They do offer a golfer’s menu and discount to club golfers, but this does not include your guests if they are not Seaford Head members.

That’s a brief overview of the club, there is information on this website where we try to keep you up to date with results and latest news, but if you have any questions feel free to contact the secretary about general enquiries, the Treasurer about any financial issues and the handicap committee about handicaps. The contact details can all be found in the contact us tab.
